Soneium: activities on the testnet
On August 23, 2024, Sony announced the launch of their own Soneium layer 2 protocol. The L2 solution will work in the Ethereum ecosystem based on the OP Stack technology stack from Optimism.
Just 5 days later, the project team announced the launch of the public testnet of the Soneium Minato network. The initiative is aimed at testing the blockchain’s capabilities and attracting developers to create protocols on it.
In this article, we will take a closer look at the activity on the testnet and show the step-by-step stages of early interaction with Minato.
Guide to completing the activities
Note: you need a Metamask-type wallet to complete the activity. If you don’t have one, you can use our guide to install and configure it.
- If necessary, get the test tokens on the faucet.
- Go to the website of the native bridge and transfer the received ETH within the Minato network:
- Click on the change network so that the system offers to add Minato to the wallet. Confirm the action:
- Then, using the wallet extension, transfer a small amount of ETH to the addresses of other wallets that can be found on the scanner.
- Buy a domain name on the XNAME portal:
- Initiate the withdrawal of ETH from Minato back to Sepolia:
- Periodically interact with the network and wait for various dApps to be added.
- For additional native activity, perform tasks on the Layer3 platform dedicated to Soneium.
Note: the campaign is not official and is initiated by the quest platform. Also, to confirm the completion, you need to pay a commission in the mainnet. Therefore, be rational.

Running a testnet does not require any real money. It is not time-consuming, but you need to periodically return to interact with Minato. It is worth subscribing to the project’s social networks so as not to miss important updates.
