ink testnet from Kraken exchange
In late October 2024, representatives of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken announced the launch of their own blockchain called ink. The new layer 2 network is based on Optimism technology and is aimed at the DeFi segment, allowing trading, lending and borrowing of assets.
Optimism’s choice to build ink is no accident and is driven by a grant that previously came from the Optimism Foundation organization. The agreement was made in early 2024 and provides for the transfer of 25 million OP tokens.
In addition, according to the agreement, the organization will split the grant into several tranches. Kraken will receive the tokens in several stages, and the main goal of the investment is to launch the L2 solution of the ink. Kraken will also become part of the Superchain project in exchange for the infusion.
Separate investments in ink have not been announced yet, but Kraken exchange has attracted $122 million from various crypto funds.
The project team in its X (Twitter) announced the launch of early testing of the network, which anyone can join. Therefore, further in the material, let’s take a closer look at the activity in ink.
