Gitcoin: donations to developing projects and Gitcoin Passport
Gitcoin is a kind of crowdfunding platform that helps young developers and projects to get additional funding by collecting donations, as well as receiving grants directly from Gitcoin DAO. Development can be done in any of the available programming languages; the only criterion is completely open source.
Donations
Using this feature, you can support a project at the earliest stage of development by investing some of your funds. Some projects may thank you with coins in the future if they are successfully launched. One of the brightest examples is Optimism.
But you should always remember that donation is just a donation to the development team, which does not oblige them to give you an airdrop or any reward.
Gitcoin Passport
Web3 is an identifier that uses various on-chain and non-on-chain metrics to verify identity without storing personal data, thus ensuring complete privacy of users.
Using its internal rating, projects can distinguish a real user from a bot or Sybil without resorting to KYC procedures. Therefore, more and more projects are requiring it to be in place. For example, projects will need a rating greater than 15 to donate, and Linea needs a rating greater than 20 to get points in one of their Galxe campaigns.
