Developers failed to crack Cartesi’s Honeypot with a 1 million CTSI reward. Заглавный коллаж статьи.
  • The Cartesi team launched Honeypot, an application for assessing infrastructure security.
  • Developers were asked to launch an attack on Honeypot and take away funds stored on the network.
  • Since its launch, the app has never been hacked, which emphasizes the reliability and security of the platform.

The Cartesi team stated that the challenge to hack Honeypot remains. No developer in the world has been able to bypass the protection and win the 1 million CTSI tokens as the award.

Cartesi representatives told Incrypted that hackers regularly attack various projects and blockchain protocols. The team released a product that is positioned as a modular rollup solution with a first-of-its-kind Linux environment for building blockchain-based applications.

The contributors to the Cartesi project saw an opportunity to battle-test its rollup solution and challenge developers to find vulnerabilities. The Honeypot challenge represents an integral part of Cartesi’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen its infrastructure and elevate its security measures.

Launched in September 2023, the Honeypot was the first Cartesi dApp launched on the Ethereum mainnet. It was created as a testing ground for developers to evaluate the security of Cartesi rollup infrastructure.

The project team invited users to hack Honeypot. If the task was successful, hackers could drain the funds kept on the network, with no strings attached. Breaching the code to transfer the funds to an external account would constitute a successful hack.

According to Cartesi, participants can use the Cartesi Rollups documentation, which opens access to the project’s technical information. Despite numerous attempts, Honeypot has never been compromised, and the funds continue to grow and has already reached 1 million CTSI (about $150,000 at the time of publication).

The initiative to hack the app is tailored for so-called “ethical hackers” (white-hat) – security professionals who look for vulnerabilities in order to help developers make a product more secure. The offer will also be of interest to bug bounty hunters.

The Cartesi team also supports developers looking to innovate in their ecosystem. It offers two grant programs:

  • seed Grants of up to $5,000 for short-term technical proposals and proofs of concept;
  • cartesi Community Grants up to $50,000 for long-term developments that are subject to a community snapshot voting.

To better navigate the Cartesi space, developers can use the online tutorial. It will help master the process of creating decentralized applications for Cartesi.

According to the release, the team’s initiatives not only grow the developer community, but also promote collaborative and innovative environment, ensuring that the project continues to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing blockchain landscape, encouraging the creation and deployment of next-generation dApps in its ecosystem.

All the details about Cartesi are available at cartesi.io. You can ask questions and communicate with community members on social networks: Discord, X (formerly Twitter) and Telegram.
