Buterin’s signing of Ukraine’s flag helped raise about $8,000 to help the Ukrainian military
- The Ukrainian Ethereum community held a raffle for the flag signed by Vitalik Buterin at the ETHKyiv hackathon awards ceremony.
- To participate in the raffle, you had to donate $50 or more.
- The raised funds will be used for FPV drones for Ukrainian soldiers.
Kyiv Ethereum Community and organizers of the ETHKyiv hackathon reported raising about $8000 to help Ukrainian warriors thanks to the Ukrainian flag raffle signed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.
The initiative was announced at the ETHKyiv hackathon awards ceremony held at Incrypted Conference 2024. In addition to announcing the best teams, Vitalik Buterin signed the flag of Ukraine, which became the main subject of the raffle.
It should be noted that in order to participate, you had to donate $50 in equivalent. A total of 17 people took part in the initiative. The winner of the drawing was announced on social networks ETHKyiv.
The organizers of the raffle said that the funds are used to purchase FPV drones.
“There is a war in the country, we all remember about it all the time and that’s why we constantly raise funds to help the AFU — not only at this hackathon, but also at our meetups, just in smaller amounts,” — said in a conversation with Incrypted founder of Kyiv Ethereum Community, co-founder of ETHKyiv and head of the blockchain division in IdeaSoft Rostislav Bortman.
As a reminder, during Incrypted Conference 2024 Buterin received a gift in the form of an NFT cat from the UACatsDivision collection signed by Vladimir Zelensky.
